Joann Bergrud Named Professional of the Year by Dakota Credit Union Association

North Star Community Credit Union is proud to announce that Joann Bergrud, Chief Operations Officer, has been named Professional of the Year by the Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU). This prestigious award is presented to just one individual across North and South Dakota each year, recognizing a credit union professional who exemplifies extraordinary commitment to the credit union mission, advocacy, leadership, and community service.

With a career spanning more than 25 years at North Star Community Credit Union, Bergrud has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the credit union philosophy of people helping people. She joined North Star in 1998 as a Member Services and Marketing Representative and steadily rose through the ranks, holding positions in card services, marketing, operations, and now serving as the organization’s Chief Operations Officer since 2017. As Chief Operations Officer, she has led several major initiatives, including system upgrades and the development of new branch locations in Devils Lake and Minot. Her leadership has been key in driving innovation, improving internal systems, and enhancing the overall member experience.

Beyond her professional role, Bergrud is a dedicated volunteer and advocate. She founded the Maddock Food Pantry, serves on the Maddock Community Center Board, and leads community events through the Active Women of Maddock. She’s also active in her church, supports youth programs, and participates in financial education and charitable giving efforts within the credit union.
