April is Youth Month

April is Youth Month

Authored By: NSCCU on 4/1/2024

In an era where financial literacy is more crucial than ever, Credit Union Youth Month stands as a beacon of education, empowerment, and opportunity for the next generation. Every April, credit unions across the globe come together to celebrate and educate young members about the importance of financial responsibility, savings habits, and the role credit unions play in their communities. This annual event serves not only to instill valuable money management skills but also to inspire and empower youth to take control of their financial futures. The significance of Credit Union Youth Month extends far beyond mere financial transactions. It represents an investment in the future, nurturing a generation of financially savvy individuals who will navigate the complexities of the modern economy with confidence and competence. At its core, this month-long celebration is about providing young people with the tools they need to succeed and thrive in an increasingly complex financial landscape.

During the month of April, North Star CCU will be celebrating National Credit Union Youth Month with a variety of resources and activities to demonstrate the importance of developing strong financial habits from a young age. This year's theme is “Save Away for a Rainy Day” because when kids learn about the importance of saving money for the future, they are laying the foundation for financial success!

We encourage you to open a Youth Savings for the young ones in your life (if you haven't already). Our Pee Wee Penguin Club is for those up to age 12 and features special activities, a newsletter and quarterly drawings to win a $20 deposit (Earn one entry for every $5 deposit into Pee Wee account, up to 5 entries per day).
