Donation to DCB Offers Naming Rights

Authored By: NSCCU on 2/27/2024

Dakota College at Bottineau is remodeling the historic Old Main building to significantly increase classroom andPicture of donation check laboratory capacity for the nursing program. By remodeling Old Main instead of building new, DCB saves a piece of history as well as save costs.

North Star Community Credit Union (NSCCU) recognizes the healthcare need in the community and surrounding area. Providing opportunities for future DCB nursing students, NSCCU donated $25,000.00 in support of nursing classrooms/labs that simulate real hospital settings. This generous donation provides naming rights to half of the Collaborative Lab classroom in the Old Main remodel.

The remodel of Old Main for nursing and healthcare programs located on DCB’s campus is scheduled to open fall 2024. This marks a significant milestone for DCB, as it reinforces its educational offerings to meet the growing demand for healthcare professionals in the region. The remodel allows for a more efficient and effective facility layout by providing class-to-class organization and modern training capabilities.

"The support we have received from the community to develop facilities to support healthcare in the region has been positive,” said Leslie Stevens, Foundation Director. “We are extremely pleased to receive North Star CCU’s confidence in our programing as we prepare students for rewarding healthcare careers.”

The nursing program is in association with the Dakota Nursing Program and has been accredited through the Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation since 2004. This accreditation ensures that students receive education of the highest quality and relevance, setting them on a path to professional success. On average, DCB graduates over 60 nursing students annually at their Bottineau, Valley City and Minot sites.
